The Story Behind the Song
It was when I was walking in our neighborhood in the evening, past the park…& I thought the streetlights were on. But then I looked up and it was the moon that was lighting up the dark! That’s when it hit me that the Light that we show to others is just like the moon…a reflection of the Son. It was such a cool metaphor, I just had to write a song about it!
“Reflections of the Son” by Randall Everitt
It’s not about you.
It’s not about me.
It’s the Light of the Son in the reflection we see.
In our world of disillusion, “world peace” we visualize,
but on our own "love light", we cannot rely!
We’ve got to shine like the moon lights up the dark
on a crystal, clear cloudless night in the park.
We’re not the stars.
We’re not the One.
We are just reflections of the Son.
We are just reflections of the Son.
When all of the glory is shining down on us,
they see us all lit up, but they don’t know who to trust.
We’re "grabbin’ all the gusto," so we don’t "miss the dance."
Let’s just "follow the Son" and "give (this King of) Peace a chance!"
We’ve got to shine like the moon lights up the dark
on a crystal, clear cloudless night in the park.
We’re not the stars.
We’re not the One.
We are just reflections of the Son.
We are just reflections of the Son.
Instead of giving glory to His holy name,
we take all the credit, and we give Him the blame.
We do it on our own and say, "it’s from the heart."
But without His light in us, we can’t even start!
We’ve got to shine like the moon lights up the dark
on a crystal, clear cloudless night in the park.
We’re not the stars.
We’re not the One.
We are just reflections of the Son.
We are just reflections of the Son.
We’ve got to shine like the moon lights up the dark
on a crystal, clear cloudless night in the park.
We’re not the stars.
We’re not the One.
We are just reflections of the Son.
We are just reflections of the Son.
