The Story Behind the Song
Just like the song says, I was literally stuck in the airport because I had missed my flight to New Orleans. I had been running ragged, and was too busy to slow down all week…until then. I had no choice but to just sit & wait four hours for the next flight…and I wrote this song while I was waiting (for the Lord, so to speak).
“That Time Is Today” by Randall Everitt
Just sittin' in the airport,
Biding my time.
'Missed my flight to New Orleans.
Oh, but that's all right.
I need some time,
time to wait upon the Lord.
I need some time,
time to just be quiet & listen.
I need some time,
time to sit & think & pray.
Lord, I guess that time is today.
'Gotta head to work this mornin',
and I'm leavin' late again.
'Stuck in traffic on the freeway,
but slowin' down ain't a sin.
I need some time,
time to wait upon the Lord.
I need some time,
time to just be quiet & listen.
I need some time,
time to sit & think & pray.
Lord, I guess that time is today.
I need some time,
time to wait upon the Lord.
I need some time,
time to just be quiet & listen.
I need some time,
time to sit & think & pray.
Lord, I guess that time is today.
Why don’t I get up early, and spend time in the Word?
Why don’t I look deeper, than what I’ve heard?
Why don’t I rush home, as fast as I head out?
Why don’t I give the Lord, the benefit of the doubt?
I need some time,
time to wait upon the Lord.
I need some time,
time to just be quiet & listen.
I need some time,
time to sit & think & pray.
Lord, I guess that time is today.
Lord, I guess that time is today.
Lord, I guess that time is today.
